A significant new grant has opened for voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations across Greater Manchester — and with a deadline of 7 August 2026, eligible organisations need to act quickly.
The Trauma Responsive Greater Manchester Fund is funded by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and aims to help groups across Greater Manchester embed trauma-responsive practice into their services, systems and spaces.
What is the fund for?
This fund goes beyond raising basic awareness of trauma. It supports organisations to take meaningful, sustained action to embed trauma-responsive approaches across their entire work — their services, internal systems, physical spaces, and organisational culture.
Trauma-responsive practice recognises the widespread impact of trauma on the people organisations serve and actively works to avoid re-traumatisation through thoughtful, evidence-informed approaches to service delivery.
This is a genuinely progressive fund — Greater Manchester Combined Authority is investing in building the capacity of the voluntary sector to deliver more compassionate, effective services across the region.
Who can apply?
The fund is open to voluntary, community and social enterprise sector groups operating across Greater Manchester. This includes:
- Registered charities
- Community interest companies
- Voluntary and community groups
- Social enterprises
- Unincorporated associations with a community purpose
Your organisation must be operating within Greater Manchester and working with communities who have experienced trauma.
How much can you get?
Grants of up to £10,000 are available per organisation.
What could the funding support?
While full guidelines should be checked directly with GMCA, grants of this type typically fund staff training and development in trauma-informed approaches, consultancy or specialist support to review and improve organisational practices, changes to physical environments to make them more welcoming and safe, development of trauma-responsive policies and procedures, and community engagement work to better understand the needs of trauma-affected groups.
